It looks like Jimmy isn't doing a new tour this year and only playing a handful of gigs. If this is the case, would he actually come to Canada? If I remember correctly, the last time he played Toronto was 2011.

I would love a Thursday in Toronto, then that Sat. in Detroit. That would make sense to me, I would go to both, no tailgating in Toronto.

The last time he played Toronto, there was a party in the sandy area adjacent to the venue. There were 2 tiki type bars set up and, if memory serves, there was also food. There was also a stage where some local talent played. I think the whole thing was coordinated by the Toronto Maplereefers. There were a lot of people and it was fun. Expensive, but fun.stefanhoffman wrote:Is there any pre concert party in T.O.? Pubs, Bars? ect.
We could see people in the parking lot across the street set up with canopies, but there was no traditional tailgate.

Re: Jimmy is playing Toronto summer 2017 tour.
Well is about time!
I first saw Jimmy on the Summerzschool tour at Air Canada Center and the last time he came to Toronto was the Finland tour in 2011.
I didn't really want to go but my 8 year old had been to a Jimmy show the tour before with grampa (I think he was 5 at the time) begged me to go .
I was immediately hooked .
I have been to all the Detroit shows since (except the last pine knob....ticket fiasco and all! ) and every year we see him in Vegas.
Now my friends ,who I show all the crazy pictures of the parrotthead experience will have a chance to see it first hand!

Re: Jimmy is playing Toronto summer 2017 tour.
There is no tail-gating in Ontario. Cops will write you a ticket if you have booze in parking lot. Not sure if Echo Beach is still open as Ontario Place is shut down. Any show in Toronto might be a warm up to the party in the "D". I would love to see a show in T.O. on Thurs. and in Detroit on Sat.Fineas wrote:The last time he played Toronto, there was a party in the sandy area adjacent to the venue. Riiight...Echo Beach. That's what the sandy area was called. Not a bad setup for the pre-party or the concert. Too bad the area has been shutdown.DizzyDean wrote:There is no tail-gating in Ontario. Echo Beach (named after a song by Toronto 80's band Martha and the Muffins, Google it.) is open. There are concerts scheduled there this year.Fineas wrote:Riiight...Echo Beach. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Re: Jimmy is playing Toronto summer 2017 tour.
I have been to every Toronto show since the late 80's.
There has always been tailgating but nowhere near the level as you will see in the US. The primary reason for this is because open liquor is prohibited in Ontario. However, this has not stopped anyone from drinking or having a good time. And, though there are police there, it is extremely laid back and I have never seen an issue.
The last few times Buffett has played there his people worked with Molson in advance to ensure that some fun could be had. What usually occurs, is that when you enter the parking area, and pay your $20 to park, they give you a piece of paper, that says "We will not be held responsible for anything that you or anyone else does here today. So, you can't sue us, have fun." Of course, this is done with a bunch of legal talk, but you get the point.
Then it is busy as usual. Last time there was some massive rigs set up, those big tour buses, tons of food and drink. Just, like I mentioned before, on a smaller scale then in the US.
It is fun, and he always plays some rarities for the Canadians.
Enjoy, and I will see you there.

Re: Jimmy is playing Toronto summer 2017 tour.
Actually, for the 2011 show, the Toronto Maplereefers PHC were telling people NOT to tail-date as they were told that it would not be tolerated. I was there early and got NO such paper. Now the lot is owned by the city. Pay and post type of parking. The have people checking for POP during concerts. So lots of people writing tickets. Including by-law.Couganata wrote:I have been to every Toronto show since the late 80's.
