Camden Vs Pittsburgh

Post by FunkHouse9 »

Well, fate has led me to have tickets to two shows out of my area and the bartering for local tickets is going slow. I'm considering a road trip and wanted some input on Tweeter Center in NJ and Starlake/Post Gazette in Pittsburgh. I've never been to either and want to know if one is a better/nicer/whatever venue for a Buffett show than the other. What are their tailgating policies/enforcement like? I have lawns to Tweeter and Section 7 to Starlake and probably won't be able to do 2 out of area shows in 1 week.

Tweeter is 2.5 hours from where I live. I'd take that day off (as I would for a local show), drive home and sleep it off at the office the next day.
Pittsburgh is 4 hours, I wouldn't have to take a day off, but I would need a hotel for the night.

My local venues are Nissan and Merriweather. Are PA or NJ similar to either of these?

Well, i've been to camden every year since he's been playing there. It is an awesome time, no problems with tailgating....get there early. If you get a spot near the river you can catch a nice breeze.

Can't have abad time at either. Jimmy anywhere is good. Camden is by the shore but there is a certain feel to Pittsburgh. I might have to lean towards the town of baseball Pirates. Seems to fit, right?

i've never been to star lake amphitheatre (post gazette) so i can't give an opinion one way or the other. I do know that the pitts. amphitheatre is kinda in the middle of no where. Tweeter is closer to "life" and philadelphia...good transportation to camden from Philly (center city).

Starlake is comparable to Nissan.

I think I'm leaning towards Pittsburgh at this point. I wish I could do both, or that and Nissan, but I think I'm going to have a hard time getting my wife to sign my permission slip for that.

The only reason to go to Camden is to drive through it on your way to Pennsylvania.

Should I follow with the old classic "why do birds fly upside down over Camden" line?

That's a good idea. Or maybe my car could "break down" on Saturday in Pittsburgh. I could say that my headlights ran out of Halogen. I know of a great shop in Camden that's only open on Thursdays.

I thought about taking her with me. That seemed like a fair idea to me, but it seems that sometime in the past couple of years she went and grew up without me. :( I think she used the shiny ball trick on me.
