For me it was Little League Baseball. We didn't have any T-Ball or anything like that back in the olden days and we had to wait until we were 8 to play organized ball.

Just general outdoor play, biking, sledding, etc.

During summer and vacations we would just go out after breakfast and pretty much the only rule was be 'back in time for dinner'.
You only have two options - havin' fun or freakin' out...

I still lived in Brooklyn when I was 8 so I'll say playing stickball. (It's a city thing.)

As for myself, 8 years old, I would try to warn JFK to stay out of Dallas.
