Still no word of P.H.I.P. deals on rental cars this year.
DAMN. If I actually had to WALK.
But I don't want to think about that now.

Garry - are you sure? I thought I saw an email with a rental car discount code. I am on my way to Paris but will see if I can find it if I get a minute. :-)

I think my husband found the cheapest rental was Avis last year. Is this for transportation to KW or around KW? You can also try autoslash.com We used that when we went to Tampa. My husband did say that car rentals have gone up a lot since last year.

Also try workingadvantage.com/PHiP

Now that we have our daughter's wedding completed, we can begin to get more excited about attending our first MOTM. So much to do, so little time!

Trying to rent a car while there. I'm flying into Key West and staying close to where everything is, so it's not as if I HAVE to have a car. Avis has always given us a discount in years past, but I've seen nothing for this year.

Thanks, Roxanne.
If I can't get Avis, I can always get the Senior Citizen discount with Dollar.

I had been planning on having November 1st as my official retirement date, however, after talking with a few people I trust, including my tax guy, I decided to hold off until January.
Reason being, I will be given a seperate paycheck for all of my unused vacation time (six weeks worth), and if I wait until after the new year, it'll go on next year's taxes. Since I won't have a job next year my tax rate will be significantly less. So, two months past when I'd originally planned. Not really a big deal. Hell, I've been in this profession for 36 years, what's two more months?

There's actually another reason too-on November 1st, when it WOULD'VE became official, I'll be in Key West for M.O.T.M.
I decided after I've been in Key West for a week would not be the best time to stop getting a paycheck.

In 4 more weeks at this time Ms Sammie and I will be on our way to Key West. It can't come soon enough. I need a vacation. This summer was rough as Ms Sammie had surgery on one of her paws to remove a tumor. We were concerned because the tumor was in a location which could have compromised Sammie's ability to continue being a guide dog, but thankfully, the vet was able to remove the whole tumor without damaging a major joint or tendon, and the tumor was not cancerous. Ms Sammie has bounce back from it all, and she is ready for Key West just as much as I am.
