National Dive Bar Wednesday @ the MSC
The dive bar has a long history. By their very nature, bars had to have been around a long time and seen a lot over the years to be labeled a ‘dive bar.’ In their first life, dive bars might have been taverns, mom-and-pop shops, roadhouses, speakeasies, inns, or saloons. As circumstances changed, so did their clientele and ability to care for the establishment.
I'm sure there's a 'few' of us who have been in one.
Yesterday I was as work at 6:15 am. Thank goodness not today!
Hope you have a great day!!

Good Morning Penny, BN'ers!
Love the "Dive Bar". One of my experiences in determining the "Dive Bar" (talking bout you Wigs Lounge) while applying a Jeff Foxworthy theme. "If the men's urinal in the bathroom uses ice to deal with the flow rather than the plumbing flush, It might be a Dive Bar"!
Interested to hear others' "Dive Bar" stories.
Enjoy your 7/7/21 everybody.

Good morning Penny. I have fond memories of most of the dives I've frequented.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

There are a few in our area but we haven't been to any of them in quite some time. We love the "dive" bars in KW but haven't been to them in 2 yrs.....hmmmmm....I see a pattern - might need to work on remedying that issue

I got a membership into the Dive Bar T-Shirt of the Month Club for Christmas. I'm getting some unique shirts and definitely adding some places to my bucket list when I travel.
It was too much tequila . . . . or not quite enough.

Good morning. That b**** Elsa isn't supposed to get here until late tonight but the sky is really dark and it's been thundering for more than an hour. No rain yet but there's 2-3 inches in the forecast.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here
Re: National Dive Bar Wednesday @ the MSC
Last night we had 7 hours straight thunder and lightning. We got hit with hail too. I opened my door was barefoot and hail hit my foot. That freaking hurt.

Good Morning Bners.
My most frequented dive bar would have to be the FloraBama. It has become more of a tourist bar in the last 20 years but was a great place back in the 70's when it was pretty much the only building on the beach, before the concrete jungle was built around it.

Have thought about gifting a membership to my son. Or even getting one myself. I'd get one for my girlfriend but she's already got 100+ concert t-shirts. Ain't no way I'm feeding her t-shirt habit any further

Afternoon BNers
We made a trip to Dollar Tree and to get drugs. I am so out of shape that I can't get through a small store.

Many years ago I was on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. I made friends with some locals that took me to the
most dive bar of all. It was in the backwater far away from the beach. Bartender was scruffy, had a long unkept beard,
and wore a wifebeater shirt. The bar was a plank sitting on two barrels. The bartender served you by pulling cans of beer
out of an ice chest that was next to him.

Who's got the rum?

Ha! Sounds like a brewery I went to once. It was pretty much a Pole Barn. When I asked for glass of ice water to "cleanse the pallet" she ran some tap water & promptly went to the fridge, grabbed an ice cube tray & cracked some loose to put in the water.big john wrote: ↑July 7, 2021 5:02 pm Many years ago I was on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Yup.
Just not fizzy mixers. The pressure removes the fizz but as you surface it fizzes up on the inside which has to come out somehow.

Re: National Dive Bar Wednesday @ the MSC
Big John has a good dive story! I doubt they took credit. I have a recent dive bar experience in the mountains of PA. We went into the rough lumber sided bar to find 2 lights on. One over a menu and one over the bar. The woman owner tended bar and dropped F bombs every third sentence. As I left the rest room, I saw the door had been punched through and sealed with duct tape. Someone had punched that through and they used a second color of tape on that patch to fix. it. Outside the rest room was a hole in the floor. Pascagoula Run popped into my head.
If the floor caved in, I'd go right straight through to Hell.
