Monte Cristo THURS @ the MSC

Good Morning !

Today is National Monte Cristo Day.....yummmmm. (I prefer a Rueben).

On September 17th, National Monte Cristo Day recognizes the indulgent and delicious sandwich.
A Monte Cristo is a fried ham and cheese sandwich. The French sandwich called the croque-monsieur inspired the Monte Cristo. However, the sandwich goes by other names, too. If you find a menu with French Sandwich, Toasted Ham Sandwich, or a French Toasted Cheese Sandwich, order them for a taste of Monte Cristo.

(Please be safe & dry today)

Good morning Linda. I love a Monte Cristo, but can't get one locally. My favorite was battered and deep fried. It was served with jelly. Delicious!

Good morning all! :)

Never had a Monte Cristo. It looks great, till they put powdered sugar on it!

Off to my hot office again - been 80+ inside, and it's awful.

Have a good Thursday!!

It's 58 degrees here in north central Ohio and your cool morning is hotter than we are going to be today. 71 is the high expected today. Enjoy the silence.

Waking up to see the destruction this morning. The county where Pensacola is has 95% power outage. I got power back last evening. Lots of damage and property loss in the area but I read that the Flora Bama survived with no damage.

I heard a barge broke loose and landed on the 8th green of the Pensacola Country Club

Good morning. I've never had a Monte Cristo, or a French sandwich, but I did date a French woman in my younger days.

The remnants of Sally are headed this way. We have a tornado watch until 6:00 and we're supposed to get 2-3 inches of rain. Right now it's just overcast.

Been awhile since I cooked a Monte Cristo sandwich. Dipped in batter and fried and then dunked
in raspberry jam. Good stuff. :pirate:

I agree! Over 90% of the county is out of power but we have been VERY lucky that our hotel never lost power & has still provided breakfast & apps at dinnrer time.

Might head out & see if I can get a pick with Jim

home now -- left at noon -- another crazy court day although most of it was via video -- still crazy.

9 of the 15 "protesters" (about the shooting early last week) who were arrested were in the courthouse for their bail hearings this morning. All have been in jail since the lower court judge set their bail at 1 MILLION each and there is an outcry.....he has received death threats -- our Lt Gov called his actions unconstitutional -- the national news is covering the story. Its a freaking #*($ show !!!!

Hey BN pholks.

Yup, as you can see from above, we're still stuck in Pensacola. It's definitely not terrible. Hotel has been great & we've had power the whole time.
We went out this am for more supplies (ok, more liquor & beer   ) and some some tree damage. Lots of debris on the roads.
Chilling by the pool for what I hope to be my last day for this FL trip. Is it too much to ask for a lil sun?

Never had a Monte Cristo. Might like the sandwich but don't want the powered sugar on it & then it really wouldn't be the same thing.

One of the articles I read said 2 of the people being held claim they were acting as medics. They're both 20 year old college students. If they don't have any medical training, "acting as medics" could be considered practicing medicine without a license, which is a crime. A smart prosecutor should add that to the charges, their own words should be good enough to convict them.
