Dive Bar TUESDAY @ the MSC

Good Morning Everyone!

We finally got rain last night and lots of it. Our lawn and flowers are happy. It was so nice to hear the sound of water hitting the roof, deck & windows.

Today is NATIONAL DIVE BAR. Where's your favorite?

On July 7th, raise a toast to the place where friends gather and memories are made. It’s National Dive Bar Day!
From the one-time speakeasy to the little hole-in-the-wall, the dive bar is like an old pair of jeans; it just fits right. During the week, we can stop in, our team will be playing on the TV, and the beverages will be icy cold. The same dart and pool leagues meet every year, and familiar faces go head to head.
Dive bars last. On Friday nights, even their sweethearts still show up for date nights at the beach shack where they met 20 years ago. If we drive the back roads of small towns, the dive bar serves the best steaks for miles around.
The dive bar is more than just a place to kick back and relax. It’s where we mark out life’s plans, celebrate its successes, and make memories to treasure. We make friends who become family and remember those who have left us behind.
This holiday is about the first place to come to mind when it’s time to celebrate, to hang out with friends or just feel at home once again. We may use the term dive bar with a bit of fondness, however, many of these places have been around a long time. “I remember when…” is a familiar phrase heard often enough. Raise a toast to the bars and pubs where they know us and take care of us.

My favorite dive bar was permanently closed. Let's just say a young fool (but not underage) got drunk at it, crashed his car into a house,
car and house caught on fire, no one killed or injured, the young fool's mommy complained it was the bar's fault,
owner of bar tried to tamper with evidence, bar got closed. :(

Good morning. It's raining and the forecast is for 1-2 inches of rain during the day and another 2-3 inches tonight. Sounds like an indoor day.

If you go to a dive bar, how do you drink with scuba masks?

Afternoon BNers

Another hot, humid day. Wow. Sounds like a July day on the Texas coast.

This is what it look liked a few weeks after Hurricane Ivan. Back in these days, the roof was an authentic thatched hut made out of real palms. There was a lady that used to sit and put them together, but if you stopped and watched her, she would quit working until you walked away. Some sort of ancient secret as to how that is put together. Today, it is a made out some sort of plastic.

And you can see how much they have added on since. Very much like a Flora Bama type of place..

Yep, used to be a great dive bar, seems it was rather touristy last time I was there. One of my favorites is the Sandshaker on Pensacola beach, I lived on my boat less than 100 yards away, easy stumbling distance. I still visit the Flora Bama on occasion.

Sorry but this place DOES NOT appear to fit the definition of a Dive Bar.
But it looks like a DAMN fine place!
Dive Bars I frequented back in the day were called Wig's Lounge, Phase Five Lounge & the all-time classic BJ's Bar, home of the Dancin' Sandwiches..........

Hi there! Michi's window sunset is paintworthy.
Most bars I frequented were dive bars. One reminded me of the Pascadula Run. There was hole in the floor by the bathroom, two lights on in the place, one over a menu and one over the bar. The owner tended bar and spoke loudly, dropping F bombs in her stories. The bathroom door had been punched in and duct taped over twice in two colors. My friend from down by Linda commented" This is the worst bar I've ever been in."
