Margaritaville at JACK Cincinnati Casino closing April 23

CINCINNATI -- Margaritaville inside JACK Cincinnati Casino will close April 23 after more than four years in business.
The casino made the announcement Monday. The restaurant, bar and music venue has been part of the casino since it opened under the Horseshoe name in March 2013.
Cincinnati's Margaritaville employs about 40 people, general manager Phil Rugari said. They were told about the closure Monday.
"All of our employees were given the opportunity to transfer to another Margaritaville location or to stay employed at the JACK Casino in another capacity," he said. It's still too soon to know how many will stay on at JACK, he said.
Margaritaville has 25 other restaurants throughout the United States, Canada and Caribbean. A new location opens this summer in Cleveland.
Gayane Makaryan, public relations specialist for JACK, said the closing was a mutual decision for the casino and the restaurant.
"They were doing really well for us, they're a great brand," Makaryan said. "As situations change, we have to change with them."
JACK hasn't yet decided what will go in the space, Makaryan said.
"We've got a couple options, so we're taking our time and exploring all business possibilities," Makaryan said.

I still am highly unimpressed with Mville since ownership changed a few years ago. The new ownership and PR group doesn't understand escapism, and the quality of products has declined drastically. The shirts are cheap in quality and high in price, and the food has lost its Island flare.
I looked forward to hitting the Lone Palm bar in Orlando a few weeks ago and was disgusted. A Landshark was $8-9 and any cocktail was $10-12. My wife and I sat for 10 minutes only because it's a favorite spot of mine, but didn't order anything.
I'll live the lifestyle, but the brand and its products no longer matches it.

Just stick with the one in Key West. The rest of them are not of any concern to Jimmy and are just money grabs.

Even the KW one has lost its vibe. Our last time down on the rock we stopped in once for a drink and it was a very similar experience. No Buffett music played while we were there, instead, all rock. Hopefully it's improved again.ASaltyPieceOfLand wrote: ↑April 16, 2017 6:13 pm Just stick with the one in Key West. The rest of them are not of any concern to Jimmy and are just money grabs.

The one at Mall of American in Minnesota looks like any Denny's in Florida. Walked in and out. Don't expect it to last long either.
Was in Pigeon Forge, TN, last week and did not go to Margariataville at all. It seems so out of place in the Smokey Mountains.
Agree with the comments on the Key West one. We went for lunch and could not talk because of the music. At night the music - again rock and not Jimmy - was so loud we could not even stand it just walking by.

Hearing other music is not a problem, be it whatever reggae or good country music. Seeing that they stream margaritavilleradio it probably works to their favor to not have Buffett music all day long.Finnsaremorefun wrote: ↑April 16, 2017 7:42 pmEven the KW one has lost its vibe. For the most part, the M'ville food sucks. It's designed to be able to be made fast, get out the kitchen fast, eaten fast, and turn the table over. More turns/more money.
I go to the M'ville in Myrtle Beach periodically only because I sometimes stay in the hotel next door for work. I do like the JB music and concert videos, but the food is not good.
I highly doubt JB has any inkling what-so-ever as to what goes on in these restaurants. His management company, lawyers, managers, ect essentially make all of the business decisions for Jimmy and he just sees his bank account grow. The only control JB has over any of his ventures is probably the set list at his concerts. Anything to do with M'ville, Landshark, M'ville Radio, concert ticket prices, etc, etc, etc is out of Jimmy's hands.

Roll with the punches
Play all of his hunches
Make the best of whatever came his way
What he lacked in ambition

That is probably accurate. I could be wrong but I think he still owns the Key West one, because that article last year stated it was in control of all of them except Key West. He did own the New Orleans one but now that gone and not going to open somewhere else.bonefish wrote: ↑April 20, 2017 3:29 pm For the most part, the M'ville food sucks. Since the new menu revamp the food has improved tremendously

While he technically may "own" the one in KW, I'm sure he has zero input on anything. He's got an army of manager, lawyers, and other people that deal with his business ventures. Yes, he makes a lot of money from all the M'ville ventures, but that's because his lawyers have negotiated deals on his behalf to license his name and the M'ville name. Obviously he has final approval of what his name goes on but once that's done, I'm sure he's out of the picture.ASaltyPieceOfLand wrote: ↑April 25, 2017 11:12 amThat is probably accurate. It's like people thinking JB can do something about ticket prices or tailgating options. Those are the least of his worries.
