Could someone please explain to me what these lines from "Fins" mean.
But now she feels like a remora,
'cause the school's still close at hand.
The definition of remora is:
Any of several marine fishes of the family Echeneidae, having on the head a sucking disk with which they attach themselves to sharks, whales, sea turtles, or the hulls of ships. Also called shark sucker, suckerfish, suckfish.
I don't see the tie-in unless he is trying to say that "she" has attached herself to the "land sharks".
(Yes, I know this is anal. But little things like this drive me nuts.)

While anchored off the west coast of Vieques, an island east of Puerto Rico, at Green Beach one weekend back in the late 70's a remora attached itself to a friend. There were several of us swimming around the boats, without suits, of course it latched onto his "eel" you might say. Said he'd never skinnydip again, was quite painful.
