One day at a time...like the rest of us.

There are no guarantees. Besides, Jimmy says a lot of things, depending upon where he is and how much "tropical punch" he's had.
(But he was serious about the Great Woods tailgate !!!) :pirate:

Sounds like a question for a doctor.

I remember back in the 80s or 90s hearing that Jimmy was threatening to retire. Twenty years later, we're still doing this. One of the things I've realized using this website is that we don't know Jimmy Buffett. We don't know his mind--his motivations, thoughts, and feelings. I went to my first Buffett show in the mid-1980s. Since then, I've missed seeing him out on the road only two years. For twenty-five years, a quarter of a century, I've been going to his shows. I haven't had a relationship with Jimmy Buffett. I've had a relationship with his music, with his art. So, the honest answer to your question is that I don't know how many more years Jimmy and the Reefers and the Reeferettes are going to continue doing this. Maybe the answer is carpe diem, seize the day, or, as Jimmy put it, to "love the now." While this has lasted twenty-five years for me, I know it's not going to last forever. That's part of why my girlfriend and I are traveling up from Florida to the Mid-Atlantic this summer to see Buffett at the Susquehanna Bank Center. Seize the day. The only moment I've ever truly owned is this moment right now, and I'm learning to extract every last drop of marrow from it.

Very well said!

Having jumped on this ride only 3 years ago I am just enjoying this madness. I'm not even thinking about how many tours will be left. I'm just enjoying the moment.

I was listening to the live concertand posting here about a year or 2 ago and he didn't say "but not yet" and you should have seen the reactions. I think 3 people died and the rest of us peed our pants and passed out! :o

He actually did not say IT at a couple of the recent shows...he was being cute and saying his hair "is Arctic Blonde." I know he said that in Paris.

I'll bet the logistics of NOT touring would be pretty difficult...or do y'all think there is a clause or something with the Coral Reefers that he has the option to just call it quits when he wants to? Or do they even have contracts? Also wondering about all the OTHER people who keep them all on the road. I'm sure he considers all the folks who would be out of their summer jobs!!

Just too much to think about...so he'll play 4-ever!

Jimmy loves doing concerts, thats all there is to it, so he won't just hang up his towel. He gets a massive buzz when he does live shows and he can't live without that Buzz..I love riding motorbikes and i won't stop 'til I can no longer physically ride them, and Jimmy is probably just the same...

I'm a long way off from retiring but that sounds like it will be fun. Hell I'd love to attend a show somewhere more tropical than Texas.
Sounds like you need a tropical "state of mind".......

I can't help with how long he's going to do this for..........my crystal ball is out for servicing......but I'll keep praying that Jimmy doesn't grow bored and remains a very healthy man..... :D
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

I really can't picture Jimmy totally stopping. Sure, the full scale summer tours may eventually go at some point. I can picture him just showing up unexpectedly at one of his many Margaritavilles or somewhere with a guitar and just playing. In the meantime, I'm enjoying what we have, and as long as he still loves it, that is great.

I've always thought a plane crash is the only thing that could force Jimmy's retirement.
