Boats to Build. Wasn't crazy for it early on but I'm really enjoying it lately.

Any connection with the song and your new life? I walk around a big boat yard in Belfast and am amazed with the beauty of boats. ( I have loved boats since I was six.)lime rickie wrote: ↑April 26, 2020 4:42 pm Boats to Build. Wasn't crazy for it early on but I'm really enjoying it lately.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Didn't connect that but I don't think so. Our boat is really Mr. Lime's toy, although I certainly enjoy getting out there. I just realized that I like the song much more now than when it debuted.bodypainter wrote: ↑April 26, 2020 7:10 pmAny connection with the song and your new life? Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
It's become somewhat of a mantra. While written about hurricane Katrina, I think of it as all the hurricanes in life:
loss of love
Health problems
Financial problems, etc.
For the same reasons, I also like "Wings"

"Boats to Build" was written by Guy Clark. One of the best songwriters of our time.

Boats to Build is also an easy singalong, would enjoy seeing that live.
Whereas stuff like Earl's Dead, which I've also come to enjoy, is a fun song and story but I don't see that one in concert anytime soon.

"Boats to Build" was written by Guy Clark. One of the best songwriters of our time.
And his pal Verlon Thompson, they wrote it together.

I've had "Elvis Presley Blues" stuck in my head for a few days now.

Re: What song has 'grown on you'?
One song Jimmy covered a long time ago that has grown on me is Please Come to Boston. I used to not be crazy about that song but the more I've listened to it (the original version) over the years, the more I've come to realize what a truly special song it is.

USS Zydecoldsmobile. I didn’t care for it at first. It’s one of my favorites on FSOTW now
Some people never find it

Its a journey, it starts with those songs you know by heart, then pretty soon you find some of the other gems. One Particular Harbor, Island, Southern Cross. I also highly recommend some books. Salty Piece of Land is a favorite of mine that I read at least once a year.
