Re: Pearl Harbor SATURDAY@ the MSC
Hi All, A few years ago, Mrs Rabz & I visited Singapore. During that visit we spent the better part of a day at the Changi Prison Museum. It was an real learning experience, made even more poignant to me as two of the people used to illustrate the history have the same family names as my paterna...

Re: Fruitcakes On The Bus FRIDAY@ the MSC
My favourite Christmas treat when I was a kid were fruit mince pies. Not any fruit mince pies, mind you. The "old lady across the road", Miss Graham, was a miracle worker with baked goods. Every Christmas she would make all of the traditional things, steamed puddings, Christmas cakes so de...

Sorry to hear that BP.

A view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, yesterday. Sadly this was during one of the clearer patches. An hour later it was fully obscured.
It's been like this for a few weeks as the fires rage around the state.

Re: It's the Most Wonderful Time THURSDAY@ the MSC
We're ok at the moment, but it's a bit like a medieval siege. We're surrounded, repelling the marauding invader and wondering if salvation will ever come... Some folk haven't been so lucky. Last count I heard was four people have died and well over 600 homes lost just in this state. It our work Chri...

Hi All, Can I come out yet? Sheesh, after the comment I made the other day about a line of storms heading our way for the second day, well we got hammered (and not in the good tequila and rum sense of hammered). I don't like getting hit with damaging storms two days in a row. About an hour and a hal...

Re: Make Mine a Double MONDAY@ the MSC
Well, I would assume the rain at least put the fire out — or was enough help that the firefighters were able to finish the job. And maybe you could invest in a hand-operated bailing pump/bilge pump as a back-up for the electric sump pump? https://www.picgifs.com/emoticons/smileys-and-emoticons/cycl...

It's just a stormwater harvesting tank for gardening and as a stored water source for defensive fire fighting.

Re: Make Mine a Double MONDAY@ the MSC
just had a peek at the weather radar.
I know better but did anyway.
There is a queue of storm cells lining up, ready to sweep across the city.
The bright side is, at least the water tank is full.

Re: Make Mine a Double MONDAY@ the MSC
Well wasn't THAT an interesting afternoon and evening. Chez Rabz is on the outer fringes of Sydney and is pretty much surrounded by national park and other scrub land. We aren't an 'interface' area although the interface areas are between 100 and 300 yards away making the actual bush 300 to 500 yard...

BP! Love the beach scenes on all three. As the postage and packaging to Oz would be extortionate I am happy to be left out of this :) Or he (we) could just plan a trip to deliver the goods to y'all  I'm in, hehe...Bill? Um, no. Heck, I haven't even made it to Key West yet. I vote for Rabz to c...

It rained!!!!!!! Only 3 millimetres (1/8 inch) but it's the first rain in a month! Sadly not enough and not in the right places to deal with the fires. We'll take any small mercies we can. At last count 503 houses have been lost in this state alone. Below are the current bushfires, we've had a relat...

Sadly, Australia is fast becoming a land of officialdom, bureaucratic nonsense and draconian governmental secrecy.

Spent Saturday shopping for and installing a new dishwasher. Apparently, some bright spark decided that all new dishwashers must have an automatic cut-off valve on the water feed. So many hours were wasted disassembling cupboards and cutting new access holes because the stupid valves are huge and wo...
