Re: Announcing the Saturday Special @ the MSC

Summer must be on it's way.

A day or so before the Vernal Equinox and the first Eastern Koel is currently calling out.

Let's hope it's just not as dramatic as last Summer!

Cleaning out our linen shelves. How can we be missing sheets? We have a flat but no fitted sheet. Or fitted and no flat. And so many extra pillow cases. I give up.
The result of too many Toga Parties?

Re: What are YOU reading?

In a surprise two sitting effort I have just devoured From Snow to Ash by Anthony Sharwood. The blurb: At the start of the hellish, fiery Australian summer of 2019/20, Walkley Award-winning journalist and suburban dad Anthony Sharwood set off on a journey. Abandoning his post on a busy news website ...

Re: What's Up FRIDAY @ the MSC

Hi All, Just finished reading 'From Snow to Ash' by Anthony Sharwood. It is about a trek he made on the Australian Alpine Walking Track last summer. An interesting insight into solo long distance trekking. The adventure takes a few turns, especially when you remember last Summer's fires in the high ...

How, exactly, are they allowed to call themselves a hotel without a bar? Surely that makes them a motel or flophouse! There are MANY hotels in the US that are very nice, but don't offer a bar. Another case of two cultures separated by a common language. Hotel has two distinct meanings here in Oz. B...

Greek names would be so much prettier, e.g. Athena, Aphrodite, Bacchus, etc...
They used my name last year so I'm good
But I have to agree that Greek names are much prettier. Not sure NB is on that list though
Wow there was a hurricane called "tailgaitingph"?

Re: Monte Cristo THURS @ the MSC

Can't tell you how many times i have come in from a late day at work, and taken an Uber from the airport to the McGuires with my luggage. Taken my luggage into the bar and had dinner and beers, then Uber'd it home from there. Get some funny looks coming in with luggage and everything else. :pirate:...

Don't feel too bad, we'd never had a real one until we first visited New Caledonia, it's a French territory so is dripping with wonderful French cuisine.

It's heresy, I tells ya! Dog Damb Heresy. Calling a Croque Monsieur a fried ham and cheese sandwich. I have never heard such a culinary faux pas. It's like saying that the Grand Canyon is just some ditch, that Dorothy and Toto fought just some witch and Babe Ruth was just a guy with a glove... A Cro...

Looking at a 85°F day with heavy smoke haze. sounds like you are hangin with Moog? Except ours aren't quite so out of control. But I guess we need to get used to it as this will be the new norm. More storms, more and bigger fires, but as the western world govt's seem beholden to fossil fuel compani...

Well Spring has sprung. And the grass is riz. I wonder were the birdies iz? No need to answer that - they're all in our back garden, squawking and fighting. Apparently WWIII is happening in our callistemon (bottle brush) trees. We have a few pairs of Rainbow Lorikeets that we feed semi-regularly, al...

Re: What are YOU reading?

Just finished 'Roadies' by Stuart Coupe.

It documents the history of road crews in Australia by looking at the famous and infamous roadies from the 60's to now.

I didn't get a mention (thankfully) but there are quite a few names I did work with or meet in the book.

For the last six months it's been "don't go out of your house, but if you do, stay away from other people cuz you might catch COVID". But now it's "don't go out of your house, and if you do, don't breathe cuz it'll damage your lungs". The whole West Coast is either on fire or enveloped in the smoke...
